Selecting a Pest Control Product That is Right

28
When I browse through online pest control product stores, I am really amazed at the types of products that are being offered.
What do I mean? Well let me ask you a question: If you were shopping for tool to fix a problem with your vehicle, you would probably make sure that the tool was meant to be used on your make and model, right? Well it is the same for bugs; not all bug sprays are meant to used on just any pest needing controlled.
In fact, a lot of pest control products are formulated to attack certain kinds of insects.
As an example, a newer insecticide category, the "non-repellants", are designed to work on the social behaviors of insects that live in colonies, such as termites, ants, bees, etc.
Without knowing this, one could spend a lot of money buying a pest control product that is designed for social insects only to treat more solitary insects such as centipedes or spiders.
So what is the big deal? Well consider the fact that it is not only your money you may be wasting on an expensive insecticide, you may be purchasing a product that is not designed to be applied for the specific pest that you have or the location of the pest, or be designed to be applied in a fashion that you intend to use.
I mean, unless you read the entire label before buying a bug spray online, you are prone to trust the online store to sell you a product that is intended for the specific pest that you are going after.
Okay, so what is one to do? Make sure that you read the product label if the site offers one for the pesticide that you are considering purchasing.
This could save you money.
How you ask? If you read some labels that are for concentrates, you might find out that an eight ounce bottle yields 20-30 gallons of finished product.
An example of this would be Demand CS Insecticide.
Some sites selling this product offer the one-quart size.
You had better half a huge property like an apartment complex or thousands of bugs if you are purchasing a quart! Please remember if you are a "pest control do-it-yourselfer", that it is your responsibility to follow all label instructions, regardless of what product you purchased.
In any event, the label is the law, and it does not matter if you are professional or not, you still are the end-user.
And please, make sure that you make a purchase from a reputible web site, such as a pest control company or supplier for the pest control industry.
Usually, if the company selling the product uses the pesticide themselves, they will represent it well.
