Sketch out a classic coffin shape onto a piece of cardboard. It should be 12 inches long and 4 inches across at its widest point. - 2). Cut the shape out with a utility knife.
- 3). Trace the shape onto another piece of cardboard and cut out a second copy. One of these will be the coffin's lid, while the other will be the bottom.
- 4). Cut six rectangles out of cardboard. Each rectangle should be one inch wide, and as long as each of the six sides of the coffin shape.
- 5). Glue the six rectangles to the coffin bottom with hot glue, creating the main coffin box.
- 6). Place the lid onto the coffin box and attach it along one long side with a strip of masking tape. It should be able to hinge open on the tape.
- 7). Cover the entire coffin in 1/2-inch strips of masking tape to simulate wood planks. Leave a small gap between each strip.
- 8). Spray two coats of primer onto the inside and outside of the coffin, allowing each coat to dry fully.
- 9). Paint the coffin with black spray paint and allow it to dry.

Load a paintbrush with acrylic paint that is the color of dark wood. Wipe most of the paint off on a newspaper, then gently brush the coffin going perpendicular to the tape. The paint will cover the tape, but leave the gaps between it dark. This is called drybrushing. - 11
Allow the paint to dry. - 12
