How to Install a Fixed Line in a Trimmer
- 1). Measure the cutting line that extrudes from both sides of the cutting head. Replace it when the line becomes worn to less than 3 inches from the cutting line exit holes (tunnels) on either side of the cutting head.
- 2). Shut the trimmer off and position it so that you have access to the underside of the cutting head. Remove and discard the worn-out cutting line before attempting to install the new line. Release the line from the cutting head by gently pressing it from the two retaining grooves that hold it in place near the center of the cutting head (in the positioning tunnel).
- 3). Insert one end of a fixed-length line completely through the positioning tunnel. Feed the line through the positioning tunnel until the new line is centered (there are equal amounts protruding from the positioning tunnel on each side).
- 4). Insert the ends of new line one at a time through the cutting line exit tunnels located on opposite sides of the cutting head. Pull both lines firmly, making sure that the line is extended fully through both exit tunnels. When done correctly, both exit tunnels will have the same length of cutting line protruding from them. Test the trimmer for normal operation.
