How Do I Create an Unbound Report?
- 1). Open up a new document using your computer's word processing software. Then find the page settings and edit the margins. For the first page of an unbound report, you'll need the left, right, and bottom margins to measure 1 inch and the top margin should be 2 inches. On all other pages, the top, bottom, left and right margins should each measure 1 inch.
- 2). Place the report title at the top of the page, directly beneath the 2-inch margin mark. It should be centered and each letter in the tittle should be capitalized.
- 3). Type in the body of the report four lines of space beneath the title. If there are section headings within the report, they should be left aligned. You can single space or double space the body of the report, but you must leave double spaces between each paragraph.
- 1). Use parenthesis to indicate textual citations, or those that accompany quoted or paraphrased information within the body of the report.
- 2). Create a section titled References, Works Cited or Bibliography beginning four lines of space below the last line of the final paragraph in the body of the report. Whichever title you decide to use should be in all capital letters. If necessary, this section can begin on a new page.
- 3). List references in alphabetical order, by last name. They should be single spaced and formatted with a hanging indent.
- 4). Combine the pages using a single paperclip or staple. There's no need for a binder, folder or report cover.
