Brooklyn Indie Film Fest: Brooklyn Arts Council"s May Showcase
Film buffs alert: The Brooklyn Arts Council's Annual indie film festival, which formerly was held in May, has been rescheduled for October.
Screening venues have included BAMcinématek, UnionDocs, Galapagos Art Space and The Bell House.
In October during the festival you can expect film screenings, audience awards, networking galore, panel discussions and parties.

1. Calling All Bklyn Film-Makers: Deadline August 10, 2013
Scene: Brooklyn: Independent Film and Media Arts presented by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) seeks short and feature length narrative films, short and feature length documentaries, animations and experimental work from Brooklyn-based filmmakers and artists for its screening series taking place in October 2013.Screening venues have included BAMcinématek, UnionDocs, Galapagos Art Space and The Bell House.

2. Criteria for Films in the BAC Festival: It's All About Brooklyn
BAC seeksfeature length and short narrative, documentary and experimental film and video work shot in the borough of Brooklyn, relating to the experience of life in Brooklyn, or films that have been created entirely or partially by Brooklyn-based artists.3. 2013 Theme: Superstorm Sandy
This year, BAC has dedicated the series to the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy and will be giving preference to films by Brooklyn filmmakers or films primarily shot in the borough with relevant themes. For instance:storm’s destruction, the rebuilding and the resilience of our people, direct responses to Sandy, films inspired by Sandy, community responses to the storm, climate change, waterfront development, disaster relief and issues of equity and the role of government as it relates to natural disaster prevention and relief.4.
