How Do I Get a Bubble Out of Flooring?

6
    • 1). Cut an "x" shape into the center of the bubble with a utility knife, matching up the center of the "x" with the center of the bubble. Each side of the "x" should be 1 or 2 inches in length.

    • 2). Lift the corners of the "x" shape upward, first with the utility knife and then with your fingers. Fold them upward.

    • 3). Apply a liberal amount of vinyl flooring adhesive to each corner of the "x," using the corner of a square trowel.

    • 4). Heat up the flooring surface with a hair dryer. This makes the flooring material pliable enough to remove the bubble.

    • 5). Push down the corners of the "x" once the flooring is heated up. Scrape the flat edge of a paint scraper over the "x" to remove adhesive that squeezed out the edges.

    • 6). Apply more heat and smooth down the flooring with a roller. Roll over the flooring in multiple directions several times to ensure the bubble is gone.

    • 7). Remove excess adhesive from the flooring surface with a damp cloth.

    • 8). Heat the floor again with the hair dryer and place a flat board over the area. Keep the board on the floor for an hour.

    • 9). Pick up the board and squeeze vinyl seam sealer over the "x" you made with the utility knife. Spread the sealer with your fingers. Do not walk on the floor until the sealer is completely dry.
