How to Change Charms on Italian Charm Bracelets
- 1). Set the Italian charm bracelet on a table with the underside of the bracelet flat on the table. The decorative face of the charms should face up.
- 2). Insert the appropriate-sized tab of a charm tool between two charms on the bracelet. Charm tools come in different shapes. One looks like a miniature boomerang with a different-sized tab at either end. The tab size corresponds to the width of the charms that make up the bracelet. Other charm tools are small, flat, rectangular pieces of metal with a different-sized tab at either end.
- 3). Holding the bracelet tight to the table with your non-dominant hand, rotate the charm tool with the other hand toward the non-dominant hand. This will force the spring-loaded, hook end of the charm directly in front of the charm tool away from the end of the charm. Leave the charm tool in place as you unhook the charm from the slot of the adjoining charm in front.
- 4). Rotate the charm tool back into the starting position, disengaging it from the bracelet. Move backward to the next charm. Insert the tool and rotate it forward as in Step 3. Unhook the now-protruding hook from the back-end slot of the charm directly in front of it. One charm has now been completely removed from the bracelet.
- 5). Pick up a new charm with your non-dominant hand and hook the still-protruding hook into its slot. Rotate the charm tool back to its starting position and disengage it from the bracelet.
- 6). Insert the tab of the charm tool behind the newly added charm. Rotate it forward to force the hook into an extended position. Leave the tool in place while hooking the protruding hook into the slot of the charm in front of it to return the bracelet to a closed circle.
