Tinnitus and Its Cause and Affect

1
Unfortunately, there are millions of people worldwide who are suffering from tinnitus which is more commonly known as the ear ringing disease or ringing in the ears.
The Merriam Webster dictionary online defines tinnitus as: "a sensation of noise (as a ringing or roaring) that is caused by a bodily condition (as a disturbance of the auditory nerve or wax in the ear) and typically is of the subjective form which can only be heard by the one affected.
" As with most other conditions people who suffer with this ailment have varying degrees of severity.
Some patients have their lives disrupted by tinnitus by not being able to sleep, or not being able to concentrate at work or even by having their social lives affected because of the related stress involved.
While there are others who are also experiencing tinnitus symptoms who don't even find it necessary to tell anyone about it.
Sufferers hear a noise in their head which has been described to as a ringing sound, a buzzing sensation or a whistling din.
Unbeknownst to most people we will all experience, at some time in our lives, hearing a noise that isn't emanating from an environmental source but is coming from within us.
This usually happens after we've been exposed to a prolonged sound which we wouldn't normally experience.
However, in these cases the noise will eventually go away while tinnitus victims must live with their discomfort on a daily basis.
Some patients hear the sound in one ear while others have both ears affected and they're the only ones hearing this sound.
There are several known causes for this affect with cochlea damage as the result of prolonged noise exposure leading the way.
This may happen on the job as a result of working around industrial machinery or heavy equipment on a daily basis.
Other known aggravators of this ailment are stress, certain types of medication and tinnitus inflicted by allergy and sinus conditions.
The latter is usually the result of a thickening of the mucous within the middle ear which can lead to ear pressure, infections and finally tinnitus.
Stress tinnitus is, as the name suggests, the result of experiencing prolonged high levels of stress caused by anxiety or traumatic events in our lives.
Unfortunately people who are suffering from tinnitus will come to realize there are no known cures or medications which can eliminate this condition entirely.
However there are many tinnitus remedies and treatments available for patients with the best approach being to pinpoint the cause of your symptoms and then experiment to find the treatment that works best for you.
