How Do I Build a Pig Trough?
- 1). Cut one of the four-foot boards in half. These two boards will eventually form the base and ends of the trough.
- 2). Butt the other two four-foot boards together lengthwise at a perpendicular angle, then attach them to each other using wood screws. The simple way to do this is to lay one board flat and stand the other one up along its edge. One side will be slightly higher than the other.
- 3). Attach the board halves to the ends of the trough. The deepest point of the V should be roughly on the center line of the ends and the bottom of the trough should hang between three and five inches off the ground, depending on the sizes of your pigs. The end boards should be as close to even with each other as possible to form a sturdy base.
