Writing wills the easy way

22
One might think there's never an easy way, or an easy time, to go about writing wills. The last statement a person will ever make about his or her life, aiming to capture every intent, every bequest, every legacy in the correct legal language. It always seems so clinical, so far removed from the reality of existence – and, to the person whose will it is to be, so difficult to get right. How does one even say that one wishes to leave something to someone without making a mess of the legal aspect of the will, which of course can result in one' bequests all ending up as property of the state? Writing wills is stressful, confusing and unpleasant. So why try and do it at all without some proper help?
A solicitor, if he or she is good, is all very well – she, or he, will eventually lead the writer through all the legal nonsense to the part where they have "written" (or, at least, had written for them) a will expressing, in the correct terminology, their bequests. But what about people who can't afford to retain a quality solicitor? Or people who can't easily leave their house and go to keep appointments at legal offices? There are, fortunately, easier ways of writing wills – and, like everything easy these days, those ways are mostly to be found on line.
The theory behind online will drafting is simple. The nuts and bolts of a will – it's a legal translation of someone's final wishes. So all one really has to do, in order to write a proper will, is to send those wishes to someone who is qualified to turn them into legalese. Internet based will drafting services employ the correct personnel to ensure that any will made through them is legally binding – while at the same time shielding clients, who might find the more traditional process of will writing a little intimidating, from the confusing and ponderous litigation part of the deal. Effectively, writing wills through online services allows a person to "get away" with simply expressing their wishes in plain English: the rest is done for them, "behind the scenes".
There is, of course, a little more to it than that: when one gets down among the nuts and bolts of any will, one finds that some advice has been given, here and there, regarding practicalities, legalities and so forth. It is, after all, possible to frame an illegal or impractical bequest – the staff employed by online will drafting services are all legally able to offer proper and best advice on the most suitable manner for a person's wishes to be turned into words acceptable in a court of law. Writing wills in this way means that friendly, comprehensible assistance is available to everyone, no matter what their circumstances or budget. The document produced will be a genuine, legally binding Will that has been crafted by experts to follow the letter of a person's wishes as closely as is possible in law – only without the hassle and worry normally associated with leaving a legacy.
