• Nestled between two lakes in a Swiss alpine valley, Interlaken has been a popular vacation destination for more than a century. • Hardly the most likely location for authentic Mexican cuisine, this cozy eatery is located in the Hotel Blume and has tables both inside and on the terrace when the weather cooperates. Grand Restaurant Schuh

• With a culinary history that can be traced back to the early 19th century, the Schuh is one of Interlaken's best loved restaurants. During the season from May 1 to mid-October the restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. During the off-season the eatery is closed Monday and Tuesday. The Schuh's menu offers a choice between three distinct cuisines: European, Chinese and Thai. • Located near the center of town, this Indian restaurant was opened in 1999 by the Mathur family and specializes in the subcontinent's Mughlai and tandoori cuisines. The former is rich in exotic herbs and spices and includes both meat and vegetarian dishes, while the latter emphasizes foods that are baked in the Indian clay oven known as the tandoor.
