How do I Get a Flag From the National Capitol?
- 1). Search for your representative or senator in the member directories of the websites for the United States House of Representatives at house.gov or for the United States Senate at senate.gov. On your representative's website, the "Flag Request" form is located under the "Constituent Services" tab at the top of the page. The location of the "Flag Request" form varies on your senator's homepage.
- 2). Fill out the "Flag Request" order form. You may download a pdf "Flag Request" order form that you fill in online or print it out. The flag request order form asks you for your name, address, telephone number and shipping address where you would like the flag sent. You can also write a letter to your representative or senator to order a flag instead of filling out the order form. You will still need to provide the same information requested on the order form.
- 3). Provide a specific date and information about the special occasion that you would like your flag flown over the Capitol. Place your order a minimum of six weeks in advance if you would like your flag to be flown over the national Capitol for such an occasion.If you are not particular about when the flag was flown over the Capitol, you may place your request anytime.
- 4). Pick a flag size. Flags are available in three sizes: 3 feet by 5 feet, 4 feet by 6 feet and 5 feet by 8 feet. You can select either cotton or nylon flags.
- 5). You can pay for your flag with a check or a money order. Flag request order must include shipping and handling, which varies by state.Prices for the flags range in August 2010 from $13.05 to $24.05.
- 6). Mail your flag order form. Each order form includes the preferred mailing address where you should send your flag order form. You can send a flag order letter to the same address as order form. If you prefer, you can call your representative or senator's office to get the flag order form mailing address.
