How to Keep Bees Away from a Pool at a Restaurant
- 1). Fill a spray bottle with a solution of soap and water. Mix the solution at a ratio of 1/4 cup soap to 1 quart of water.
- 2). Keep a couple of the spray bottles with the mixture near the pool. When you see any bees, spray them with the solution. They will die quickly without having to use any pesticides that may contaminate the pool or disturb nearby guests with a foul smell.
- 3). Continue to kill bees near the pool with this approach. These forager bees tell the other bees where they've found water, so if they never make it back to the hive, the other bees can't know about the water and fewer and fewer bees will find your pool.
- 4). Mix a couple of tablespoons of vinegar to pools humans are not using, such as decorative waterfalls or bird baths. The vinegar deters the bees.
- 5). Cover your pool when the restaurant is closed if the bee problem is particularly bad. Bees can't get water from a covered pool and are less likely to forage for water there.
