How to Protect Wooden Lawn Furniture
- 1). Cover the lawn furniture with a waterproof tarp during rainy seasons. Exposure to moisture causes the wood to expand, which results in cracks in the wood and around the bolts and screws.
- 2). Place rubber pads underneath the legs. Moisture from the lawn gradually erodes the bottom of the furniture's legs, as mildew grows when the wood remains damp over an extended period of time.
- 3). Carry the furniture inside. Outdoor lawn furniture isn't in use during the winter, so store the furniture in a cool, dry area of your home until the snow melts away.
- 4). Fill a bucket with warm water, and pour one cup of dishwashing liquid into the water. Dip the scrubbing brush into the mixture, and scrub down the outdoor furniture twice a year, recommends Dreams Alive Magazine.
- 5). Hose down the furniture to remove soapy residue, and allow it to air dry in the sun.
