Ru Update: Good News!

12
GOOD NEWS: This coming week, we should be receiving the 6 challenge badges from our new vendor. Praise God for your patience and for His intervention in our binding circumstances. Please apologize for US to YOUR students. As for those who have had to use something else in the meantime, please forgive us. Adjustments have been made, which are obviously far more important than empty promises.

RUNT CHANGES: We are making changes in the RUNT layout. Please read the back cover of the issue that went out this week, as these updates are very important to make sure no one is surprised. Pray for wisdom in ministry responsibilities such as these that are less than cost effective during economically tough times. We are excited about what we are planning and want to always keep you informed.

OUR DAILY BLOGS: Are you gathering email addresses for your students and workers to receive THIS blog and the others sent by our staff? If not, you should. We have thousands of students and RU workers who are enjoying them daily. Share good data with your disciples. Its how they learn. IF you dont share good stuff for Gods sake, the world will offer them bad stuff for the devils sake. Just click on forward this blog to a friend at the bottom and enter your students addresses. Or, you may email [email protected] to get help on doing one mass sign-up. We use these addresses for NOTHING besides RU or discipleship related dialogue.

VICTORY IN CHRIST AWARD CLARIFICATION AND CHANGES: YES! We reward Victory, not necessarily sobriety. Though being sober is a signal that we have gained victory in a particular area of our life, it is not a guarantee that we are living victorious IN Christ. Victory is symbolized by the letter V. This means that when you get knocked down, you get back up. We will never have complete victory over sinning in this life, but sin should no longer have power over us. Habitual sin is symbolic of sins power. It becomes an unstoppable behavior and cannot be rewarded by simple attendance. Likewise, we think it unwise to reward this gift for only those who have abstained from all recognizable sins of choice, for there remains sins of conscience, which cannot be detected.

Thus, we consider this an award for those just men and women who, when they fall, they get back up again! In other words, victory goes to those who refuse to quit while simultaneously participating in, at an acceptable pace, all parts of the RU ministry. In other words, hearers who are attempting to be doers and refusing to be quitters are the standard for victory.

This being said, many have wished and wanted a more specific criteria for determining how to reward this award in a more effective, tangible and traceable way. With the help of Jay Griffin, RU director in Milford, OH, we have made the following adjustments, listed below, for this reward. This change should give you the boundaries you need to avoid having to award someone who attends and simply claims to have victory. Because we want to use this award to stimulate greater victories, I have included a low bar minimum suggestion as well as a high bar maximum. Again, this award allows chapters to use discretion and personal preference, so I purposely choose not to give specific criteria.

1. 6-month Victory: Completion of the Overcomer and the Challenger workbooks are a low bar minimum. This is an average of 1.6 challenges per weekvery doable. As a high bar, we would add that they should be regular to class and faithful to most of their churchs services. Please Note: It may take a few months to get them attending church; we cannot yet expect church attendance to be more regular than class. If it is, that is even better, though highly unlikely unless they come from the church. As for journaling, that is not a requirement until they reach the Transformer workbook, so we will wait on raising Daily Devo. expectations till the next 6 months. But if they are IN their Transformers BEFORE they reach 6 months, I would tack that on as a preferred high water mark for this award.
2. One Year Victory: A low bar requirements would require making the 300 club at least 4 months and be half-way through their fruits books, which would be midway through the Conformer. A high water mark would be full completion of their STRONGHOLDS coursework. The RU Rockford homes finish their books in 6-8 months, so one year is not a very high water mark. However, we are a ministry of grace over works, so we are gauging participation rather than performance.
3. Two Year Victory. A low bar requirement would be making the 300 club at least 12 times (we do NOT suggest asking for the earner to acquire 400 or 500 points, as that has a tendency to drive performance criteria to be too high). As well, they should be completely finished with their STRONGHOLDS and engaging in the UPHOLDS. A high water mark would request eighteen 300 club rewards along with completion of the UPHOLDS. This would be nearly 5 challenges per week for two years: a very high expectation, indeed.
4. Three Years Award: This award will be released at this years conference. Thus, a low bar requirement of being done with the UPHOLDS, engaged in the BEHOLD, and earning 300 club 24 times would be effective. The high bar would be finishing the BEHOLD and making the 300 club anywhere between 28-32 times.
5. Four Year Award: This award will also be released at this years conference. Low bar requirement would be completing the BEHOLDS and engaged in the THRESHHOLD (also released in 2010, Lord willing). You should earn the 300 club at least 8 months in the previous year. High mark would be finishing the THRESHOLD and making the 300 club at least ten times in the previous year.
6. Five Year Award: This award will also be released at this years conference. It will be the final Victory in Christ award, as they should also be earning Service Awards as well by now. This will simply award completers of the entire courseall four -HOLDS should be completed, and by now, they should be a pastor (J Just joking!).

What a privilege to serve you and to design things like this. We are all so fortunate to live IN Christ, and so much the more fortunate to enjoy the Victory He provides when we do live positioned IN. Thanks for letting me be your friend in ministry, and please keep us in your prayers.
