  The Chevy Impala has three models including the LT, LS, and SS. Chevrolet introduced the SS in 1961. Although the Impala has changed its look over the years, the V8 engine has been a staple throughout its existence.
  
  

Exterior

• The 2009 Impala SS came with front and rear bumpers that match the body paint, polished alloy rims, tinted glass and chrome trim around the windows. The base model measures 200.4 inches long, 58.7 inches high and 72.9 inches wide.
  
  

Performance and Fuel

• The 2009 SS boasts a 5.3-liter V8 engine with a multipoint fuel injection system. A 17.5-gallon fuel tank allows for fuel consumption of 24 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in city driving.
  
  

Interior

• The 2009 Impala SS offers anti-theft protection, air conditioner, cruise control and an external thermometer. The SS comes equipped with a CD player that reads MP3 files and a satellite audio system. In the front, the car provides 39.4 inches of headroom, 42.3 inches of legroom, 58.7 inches of shoulder room and 56.4 inches of hip room.
