A Story to Tell
There's a story about Story Bridge.
Opened in July 1940, the 777-metre-long steel cantilever bridge spans a bend in the Brisbane River and connects Fortitude Valley with Kangaroo Point. In 2005 the bridge was opened for bridge climbs, one of only four bridges in the world, at last count, to allow people to climb to the top of the bridge.

Only four bridges in the world are available for organised bridge climbs, three of them in Australia and New Zealand, and the fourth in China.
In Australia, there is, of course, Sydney Bridgeclimb on Sydney Harbour Bridge which started operating in 1998, followed in 2005 by Story Bridge.
In New Zealand bridge climbs are available on Auckland Harbour Bridge, and in China on Lupu Bridge in Shanghai.
Brisbane's Story Bridge is named after Queensland public servant John Douglas Story (1869-1966) who was Under-Secretary for the Department of Education from 1906 to 1920 and Public Service Commissioner from 1920 to 1939.
He worked for the establishment of the University of Queensland and was a government representative on the University senate.
