    Using Inkscape

    • 1). Open the Inkscape image editing program (see References). Drag and drop the .PNG file to be converted onto the canvas.

    • 2). Edit the image as needed before saving it as a .SVG file. Click File and select "Save As."

    • 3). Select "Inkscape SVG" or "Plain SVG" as the file type. Create a new name for the file and choose the destination directory for the file. Click "Save" to save the file.

    Using Adobe Illustrator

    • 1). Open Adobe Illustrator (see Resources). Click "File" and select "Open" to load the .PNG file into the program. You can also drag and drop the file into the program.

    • 2). Edit the image as needed before saving it as a .SVG file. Click "File" and select "Save As."

    • 3). Create a new file name or use the existing name. Make sure the selected file type is SVG. Choose a directory and click "Save" to save the file.

    Using an Online Image Converter

    • 1). Use your Web browser to navigate to the Online Image Converter (see Resources). Click the "Browse" button to load a .PNG image onto the converter, or enter the URL address of your image in the appropriate text field.

    • 2). Use the optional settings to edit and resize the image as needed. Click "Convert File" to begin the conversion process.

    • 3). Wait for the file to be processed. Click on the direct download link generated near the bottom of the page or wait for the "Opening" or "Save" dialog to pop up on-screen.
