How to Locate ActiveX Controls in Vista
- 1). Open any folder.
- 2). Click within the search box at the top-right corner of the window and type "*.ocx" (without quotation marks).
- 3). Click the "Search Tools" button and select "Search Pane."
- 4). Click the "Advanced Search" option on the right-hand side of the window.
- 5). Click the "Location" drop-down menu and select "Everywhere."
- 6). Check the box labeled "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files (might be slow)."
- 7). Click "Search." Vista will begin scanning your entire system for ActiveX controls. Depending on the size of your hard drive and the speed of your computer, this process could take as long as 15 minutes.
