    Princess Grace Awards

    • The Princess Grace Foundation, formed in memory of the Princess of Monaco, is dedicated to helping new artists fulfill their artistic potential. The foundation's grants program disseminates awards to college students in the areas of theater, playwriting, dance, choreography and film. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Grants can cover art project costs, tuition or work on a thesis activities. Awards range from $5,000 to $25,000. Students must obtain a nomination from a teacher, dean or artistic director in order to apply for the award. Applications for the grants are available online.

    The Jerome Foundation Grants

    • Emerging artists of any age can apply for grants in a variety of genres from the Jerome Foundation. The organization targets artists who are creating new work and have not had any recognition for their artistic projects. The grants are limited to artists who live in either Minnesota or New York City. There are four grants. The general grant is for artists in any discipline. The travel and study grant supports the research activities that lead to the creation of new work. There are two film and video grants. Once is for artists who live in New York and the other is for artists in Minnesota. Award amounts vary and can reach to over $20,000. Applications are available on the foundation's website.

    The Louis Comfort Tiffany Grants

    • Created by famed artists Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 20th century, the foundation named after the famous glass designer, awards biennial grants to emerging artists in the areas of printmaking, sculpture, photography, video and crafts. A panel of artists and other art professionals nominate up and coming artists for the grants. Artists submit review materials and a jury picks winners. In 2009, the foundation awarded 30 unrestricted grants of $20,000 each.

    The Puffin Foundation Artists Grants

    • The Puffin Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting artists who have not had any mainstream opportunities to showcase their projects including new artists. Grants are awarded in several disciplines including fine art, dance, video, theater, music and photography. Applicants must request an application from the organization. Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,500.
