How to Use a Carpet Cleaner & Steamer
- 1). Pour hot water and vinegar into the liquid canister compartment of the carpet cleaner and steamer until you reach the fill line. Use the ratio of one cup vinegar per one gallon of hot water. The vinegar will give a thorough cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing to the carpet.
- 2). Add one tbsp. of laundry detergent to the liquid canister compartment per one gallon of hot water. You may be tempted to use more as this seems like a small amount of detergent; however, this is the most effective ratio when cleaning carpeting. Too much soap will settle into the carpet fibers and leave a thick residue behind.
- 3). Turn on the carpet cleaner and steamer, and allow steam to begin emitting from the unit. This will take a few minutes.
- 4). Run the steamer over the carpeting very slowly. You must use this cleaner a bit differently than a quick running of the vacuum, as you need to allow time for the steam and cleaning agents to penetrate the carpeting.
- 5). Pull the steam cleaner in the opposite direction after cleaning the first time. This allows all angles of the carpeting to receive a thorough cleaning.
