How to Clean Drains to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
- 1). Remove the drain plug. There might be just a few tiny screws that you will need to remove with a screwdriver first.
- 2). Use a stiff, long brush to clean the inside of the drain pipe. This will remove some of that dirty debris that is attracting the fruit flies.
- 3). Rinse the sink by running the faucet or using a hose and high-powered nozzle.
- 4). Put a pot of water on your stove and turn the heat up to high. Wait for the water to boil.
- 5). Pick up the pot carefully using pot holders and carry it over to the drain. Pour the boiling water slowly into the drain to help sterilize it and get rid of those fruit flies once and for all.
