Fatigue

• People with hemochromatosis might notice frequent tiredness and fatigue that persists throughout the day, even after getting a full night of sleep.
  
  

Hormone Dysfunction

• Hemochromatosis might cause people to have hormone problems, including low estrogen and testosterone, hypothyroidism and low insulin levels.
  
  

Pain

• People with hemochromatosis might experience pain in their joints, especially in their hands, and could eventually develop abdominal pain if the disorder is left untreated.
  
  

Sexual Dysfunction

• Men with hemochromatosis might notice a loss of sex drive and difficulty getting or sustaining an erection, and women may prematurely stop having their periods.
  
  

Skin Changes

• Hemochromatosis may cause people to develop a yellow or orange color to their skin and eyes, and the skin may sag or appear loose as a result of weight loss caused by the condition.
  
  

Organ Damage

• After many years, people with hemochromatosis might develop heart damage that can lead to liver damage that may include cirrhosis, cancer or liver failure as well as heart or kidney failure.
