How to De-Stress Hair
- 1). Cover your hair when you go out in the sun. Put on a hat, or carry an umbrella if you are going to be out for an extended period of time. In addition, use hair products that contain sunscreen, which will prevent further damage from UVA/UVB rays. Use a product with an SPF value of 25 or higher.
- 2). Condition your hair every time you wash it. Apply a conditioner with ingredients that provide extra moisture, such as aloe, jojoba or keratin. It will rehydrate your hair and give it more life and body. Also, spray a leave-in conditioner on your hair before going in the pool or ocean. This will prevent your hair from soaking up the salt and chlorine.
- 3). Shampoo your hair less frequently, and refrain from washing your hair every day. Shampoo strips the scalp and hair of essential oils that can help de-stress your tresses. Shampooing twice a week is best.
- 4). Apply a hot oil treatment once a week to help replenish oil to the hair shafts. Stressed hair can lack natural oils that keep hair healthy. Massage it into your scalp in the shower, and leave the oil on your head for as long as possible. Place a shower cap over your hair, and leave the oil on overnight for maximum results.
- 5). Get regular haircuts. Trimming your hair every six weeks will keep the ends from becoming split and weak.
