How to Update & Repair Internet Explorer 8
- 1). Click the "Start" button and type "Internet Explorer" in the search box.
- 2). Click "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" in the results. This opens the browser with additional software components disabled. Try using Internet Explorer again. If it is working better, then you can try disabling add-ons one by one until you identify the one causing the problem.
- 3). Try resetting Internet Explorer to its factory default settings if disabling add-ons doesn't work. To do this, open Internet Explorer and click "Tools" at the top of the screen.
- 4). Click "Internet Options." Click on the "Advanced" tab at the top.
- 5). Click "Reset" on the next two screens. When the process completes, click "Close" followed by "OK."
- 6). Close and re-open Internet Explorer and try using it again. If this does not resolve the issue, use Windows Update to update the browser.
- 7). Open Internet Explorer and click "Safety."
- 8). Click "Windows Update" and follow the instructions onscreen.
