How to Get Antique-Colored White Icing
- 1). Place your white icing into a large bowl. It's best to use pure white or vanilla icing as buttercream can turn more tan than antique white.
- 2). Add 1/8 tsp. of brown food paste or gel coloring to your white frosting for each 4 lbs. of frosting. Thoroughly mix the coloring into your white frosting with a spatula. Although 1/8 tsp. may not seem like a lot, food paste and gel coloring are much more concentrated than liquid food coloring.
- 3). Continue to mix the brown color into your icing until it's completely incorporated.
- 4). Inspect your color. If you need the white to be a little darker, add 1/16 tsp. or another 1/8 tsp. of brown to the icing. Continue to blend into the icing until it's the shade you desire.
- 5). Add 1/4 tsp. or white food paste or gel coloring if you've made the icing a little too dark. If you have more frosting, you can simply mix in a little more to offset the color if it's a little too brown.
