How to Get an SOL Date on Your Credit Cards
- 1). Know your state's statute of limitations. You can find this information online. In some states, the statute of limitations on credit card debt is as little as three years; other states set the statute of limitations as high as seven years.
- 2). Look at your credit card statement. If you've kept your credit card statements, you should be able to find the date of your last payment. If you can find the date of your last payment on a credit card statement, that will be the date on which the statute of limitations began.
- 3). Check your banking history. If you do online banking, find out the date of your last payment by looking through your history. Even if you don't do online banking, you should be able to access your history by visiting your bank and asking to see your transactions. Most banks keep records of transactions for up to four years, and sometimes longer.
