EJ rehashes how Sami lied about Lucas hitting Will and suggests that she might as well do the same thing to him. This obviously strikes a nerve with Sami. EJ suggests they stop the stupid, petty fighting. Sami reminds him how they have the appointment with the immigration officer coming up and implies that she has a lot to tell. EJ doubts Sami will spill the sordid details of their past, since he believes that she doesn’t want her children growing up without a father.

He starts to believe that John was right about the real reason she doesn’t want him working with Nicole. Sami claims that she’s told him the real reason hundreds of times. “She’s a money-grubbing backstabbing bitch!” she exclaims. EJ concludes that she’s jealous and laughs out loud. Sami denies this and wonders how he could even suggest this. EJ notes that she’s very attractive. Sami suggests that Nicole has the body of a twelve-year-old boy. EJ predicts that just about every male in Chez Rouge would disagree with that statement. “That’s because she came into the restaurant practically naked, EJ,” states Sami. EJ continues to insist that she’s jealous that he gets to work with “this beautiful, soon-to-be single girl.” Sami tells him to remember that he can’t have everything, then walks out with the twins.
In Ava’s room, a hysterical Ava pushes Steve and screams at him for leaving on their wedding day and not coming back. Angelo tells Steve to back off and summons George into the room. Kayla yells at Ava that it’s enough, but Ava screams for her to shut up.

“You ruined my family!” bellows Ava. Steve insists that it wasn’t intentional. She urges him to say that he’s sorry and to mean it. Steve apologizes and begs her to believe him. “I will never, ever, ever forgive you!” she cries. While Angelo comforts Ava, Bo warns Steve that if they don’t get out of there bad things are going to happen.

Bo holds Hope and helps her over to the sofa. A distraught Ava asks Kayla what she thinks of her husband now. Kayla believes that Steve never meant to hurt Ava. Ava is appalled that Kayla is defending her husband and believes that Steve has her snowed. Bo steps in to defend Steve. Hope says she knows that Ava’s hurting and suggests they can help her. Ava laughs at this suggestion, noting that they look at her like she’s crazy. She rehashes how she’s been locked up in a padded cell and pumped full of drugs. She unleashes her fury and screams how she hates all of them, breaking a fixture in the process. Ava then touches Steve’s face and smiles how he was the most handsome man she’s ever seen, recalling how they were going to spend their honeymoon in Vegas. A remorseful Steve has tears in his eye as Ava puts her arms around him and coaxes him to dance to their song. She looks over Steve’s shoulder at a distraught Kayla and accuses her of destroying her life. “What about the lives you destroyed?” excoriates Kayla, who holds her personally responsible for the death of her pop. Ava apologizes and seethes how none of it would’ve happened if Kayla wouldn’t have taken “her man.” Steve says it’s not Kayla’s fault. A disturbed Ava laughs, then orders her goons to arrange a reunion for her hostages with Grandpa Shawn. “I want em dead,” demands Ava. Kayla begs Ava to listen to her and insists that Ava’s a good person who wouldn’t kill her baby. She puts Ava’s hand on her stomach and asks if she feels the baby. Ava appears moved. Kayla implores Ava to tell George to put the gun down. She tries to console Ava and apologizes for what happened to her. Ava feels the kick of the baby. Steve pulls Angelo aside and insists that they need to help Ava, predicting that the guilt will eat her alive if they all die. As far as Angelo’s concerned, this is the most sane thing Ava’s done in a long time. Angelo walks over to George and orders him to put the gun down, then suggests to Ava that they rethink the situation. Steve tells Ava that they only want what’s best for her. “But you were best for me, Patch. All I ever wanted was you and now look at me,” says a morose Ava.

The prisoners are later tied up while Hope continues to bleed from her gunshot wound. Steve apologizes for getting his friends into this mess. Hope begins to pass out from her injury while Bo suggests that Steve make it up to them by buying a round at the Cheatin’ Heart. Kayla suspects that Stephanie’s going to be so worried. “Yeah, Chelsea too,” chimes Bo. Steve suspects that it’s only a matter of time before their kids come looking for them. Bo panics when Hope falls unconscious and urges her to wake up. Kayla and Bo yell at Hope to wake up. Steve urges George to untie Hope. “I’m a doctor. Untie me,” begs Kayla. Bo yells at George to call 911. George checks Hope and notes that she’s still breathing and claims there’s nothing to worry about. A furious Bo kicks George and demands for him to untie her. George responds by knocking Bo across the face with his gun, which causes him to pass out. Steve asks Kayla if she thinks that Hope’s going to be alright. Kayla notes that it’s a clean wound, which means less chance of infection, but stresses that Hope’s lost a lot of blood and needs to get to a hospital. Steve implores George to help them out, then figures he’s wasting his breath. Angelo and Ava re-enter the room, where Angelo asks what’s going on. Steve informs him that Hope passed out and George pistol-whipped Bo. Angelo notes that the pulses are strong. Kayla implores him to let her go and she’ll check them out. Steve pleads his case to Ava, but she could care less.

Ava declares that she’s made a decision and is not going to kill them. Steve implores her to untie them. Ava declares that Kayla’s baby is hers, rambling about how she has all these boys’ names picked out. Steve and Kayla are horrified to hear this. “Do you really think I’m going to give you my baby?” asks Kayla. Steve asserts that there is no way she’s taking their baby. Ava refers to it as payback for ruining her life and states that it’s a fair trade. Crazy Ava then announces that once Kayla has the baby, she gets to decide who lives and who dies.
