How do I Apply for a Tax Rebate in the UK?
- 1). Find out your tax code. It should be on your paycheck, as well as on the P60 and P45 forms.
- 2). Use an online income tax calculator to see if you've overpaid. You will need to enter some basic information, including your tax code, how much you've earned, your marital status and other personal and financial details.
- 3). Contact your local tax office. It will be listed on your P45 and P60 forms. Alternatively, use the tax office listed on the HMRC website.
- 4). Phone the tax office and ask to book an appointment to discuss getting a tax refund. More often than not, they'll take walk-ins, too. The office will have all of the necessary information you need, plus assistance from agents, to calculate and process a tax refund. Your refund will take several weeks to process, and can be distributed as a direct deposit or check.
