How to Make Flatware Sparkle
- 1). Cover the work surface with the beach towels laid flat, one on top of the other. The towels protect the surface from nicks, mars and excess polish.
- 2). Remove jewelry from your wrists and hands. Put on the gloves to protect your hands from the polish, which also protects your flatware from hand lotion, natural skin oil and acid.
- 3). Use the flannel cloth to apply a dime-sized amount of polish to the metal part of one piece of flatware, which is stainless steel, silver plate or sterling silver. Apply moderate pressure to remove tarnish. Use a toothbrush or toothpick to clean intricate silver-work.
- 4). Wipe wood, composite, bone or ivory handles with a damp, soft cloth and dish soap.
- 5). Rinse each piece to remove polish and dish soap. Dry with a soft cloth.
