How to Make 60th Birthday Signs

4

    Instructions

    • 1). Use a pencil to draw a large "6" and a "0" (like bubble letters) on the yellow poster board. Make the numbers about 7 inches high and 4 inches wide. Cut out the numbers. These will resemble number candles for the top of the cake sign.

    • 2). Draw a large birthday cake on the white poster board. For a simple cake-drawing method, the Drago Art website suggests drawing an oblong circle for the top, two lines on the side and a curved line at the bottom---basically a flat cylinder shape. Make the oblong circle about 12 inches long and 4 inches deep in the center. Make the two side lines about 10 inches high. The curved line at the bottom will simply connect the lines. Cut out the entire shape.

    • 3). Glue blue craft pom poms around the perimeter of the oblong shape and along the bottom curved line. The blue pom poms will resemble decorative frosting. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 4). Use a ½-inch paint brush and green poster paint to write "Happy Birthday" on the front of the birthday cake sign.

    • 5). Glue the yellow numbers to the top of the poster board cake. Because the pom poms will be in the way behind the numbers, simply glue the bottom halves of the numbers to the cake. The result will be a 3D effect.

    • 6). Apply a generous amount of glue to the top half of the wooden stake. Press the stake onto the back of the birthday sign. Cover the stake with clear mailing tape to secure into place and reinforce the glue's holding power. Allow the glue to dry completely before sticking the 60th birthday sign into the ground.
