How to check the traffic of a website is really quite simple, and there are so many people out there that don't know how to do this.
Whether it be a web-based business, a blogging website, or just a website you have created for fun.
You will of course want to keep an analyzation of your website to keep track of exactly how many people are visiting your site everyday, every week, every month and so on, and how they have ended up on your website (this could be direct traffic or referred traffic) from a back link to your site.
Therefore you will need to understand the process of how to check the traffic of a website.
To do this, you will obviously need your website up and running and on-line to begin with, so I will take it that you know a little about using a HTML editor, and the computer code (source) that is the basis of your site.
If you haven't had any experience with this, you should take a few hours to research the process.
So you have your website up and running and live on the web, how do you check the traffic of a website?? To begin with, you will need to create an account with Google, which I'm sure most of you have by now? You will then need to visit http://www.
google.
com/analytics
.
Here you will be asked to fill in a few details about yourself and your site.
Once this is complete, you will need to "set up a new profile" in which you will be asked for the certain domain you wish to add the tracking to.
Once you fill in the details Google ask for, they will then give you a computer "code" that you will have to insert into your website ( you will need to copy this code).
The computer code is a script that Google use to help them to check the traffic of a website.
What you will then need to do is as follows, you will need to open up your website in your chosen HTML editor, and view your site in the "source" mode, so you get to see your website in its raw HTML format.
Then, if you scroll right down to the bottom of the page, you will see the penultimate line should be reading the script:- You will then need to "paste" your analytics code, right before the line.
Once the code has been inserted, you will need to save the page, and upload it to your FTP client.
And that is it (Google may take a few days to register the code).
So how do check the traffic of a website? You will simply log into your Google analytics account, and from their you will be able to view all the traffic that has visited your site and who sent them.
