Drawing Visitors Through and Into Scenes With Animation
Located just beside the burning thatched roof, this road repair scene draws the viewers eye up the road to the scenes just beyond.
The smoke scene on the the burning thatched roof is not continuous, but the little road repair vignette draws children away from it quickly once the smoke dispurses. Lining the road scene up the road also draws viewers eyes deeper into the scene to examine a few other features. The road scene is located just at the entrance to the farmyard in the next photo and serves to help encourage visitors to examine the farm as well.
When scenes aren't made of famous buildings, model villages need to encourage visitors to keep moving, and keep looking in odd places in case something interesting is happening. Bekonscot is one of the best examples of this type of visitor encouragement I've seen in model villages. Even very young children are happy to leave one action scene in search of the next, and there is something appealing for all ages, whether it is puns, trains, moving cars, boats or animals, or special details of life in a village.
