The Naina Peak is the highest among the other peaks of Nainital. Earlier the peak was named as the China Peak but this changed to Naina Peak after the end of China war in 1962. The altitude of this peak is around 2615m. The peak offers the tough challenge to all the avid trekkers. This peak is popular because it provides the splendid birds eye view of the town. For the visitors who find it difficult to walk or hike, they can hire a pony which will take them to the pinnacle and experience this breathtaking site. As you move up on the peak, you will see the Naini Lake forming a small pool of water. The Naina Peak is among the most popular picnic spots both for the locals and the tourists. It is situated at the walking distance of just 6-7 km from the northern side of Nainital i.e. Mallital. To experience the glimpse of Himalayan Mountains, one should visit the Tiffin top. This picnic spot is also known by the name of Dorothy Seat, named in regards to the memory of Dorothy Kellett, an English lady painter. The best season to visit the Naina Peak is from September to October or from March to June. The autumn season begins in the month of October, but it is preferred to carry the woolen clothes while visiting Nainital even in the summer because the place tends to become colder because of the excessive rains during summer season. The Lands end offers a breathtaking view of the nearby hills and lakes. Even one can see the Khupatal Lake from here.
