How to Troubleshoot a Nutone Vacuum

1

    Loss of Vacuum

    • 1). Verify all the wall inlet covers are tightly attached and that no air leakage occurs. You shouldn't hear any hissing or feel air suction. Hold your hand near the covers and feel for suction. Replace any leaking covers because they will reduce suction throughout the system.

    • 2). Look for blockages. Begin with the vacuum hose. Insert the hose into an inlet and place your hand over the hose end. You should feel strong suction if the system is functioning properly. If there's no suction, the trouble may be with the hose or with that particular branch. Try the hose on another outlet. If there's now suction, you have discovered through a process of elimination that the hose is clear and the initial branch has a clog.

    • 3). Clear a clog in the hose itself with a garden hose. Push the garden hose through the vacuum hose until it frees the blockage.

    • 4). Clear the tubing system by blocking the airflow with your hand and creating suction, then lifting your hand to release suction. Repeat this until the blockage is clear. If the blockage does still does not clear, contact the Nutone service center.

    Loss of Power

    • 1). Turn the vacuum system off.

    • 2). Push the overcurrent protector button, found on the left side of the power unit. Wait 30 minutes to allow the unit to cool off.

    • 3). Turn system back on. If the system still does not work, contact the Nutone service center.
