How to Make a Fancy Shawl Dress
- 1). Pin together the long edges of two shawls, right sides facing each other. Mark a section with pins that measures 20-inches at the center of the edges for a head opening.
- 2). Sew a straight stitch 1/4-inch from the edges, connecting the shawls, stopping at the marked head opening from one bottom shawl end. Repeat from the opposite end.
- 3). Fold the sewn together shawls in half, lengthwise, right sides facing each other. Pin from the bottom end to 12-inches from the fold on both edges for armhole openings. Sew 1/4-inch seams.
- 4). Turn the shawl dress to the right side. Cut the beaded fringe to two 24-inch lengths and one 40-inch length. Hand-sew the seam binding connected to the fringe around the neck and arm openings of the completed shawl dress.
