How to Redirect to the Favorites Folder
- 1). Copy the entire text from the black box appearing on the "Redirect Favorites and Cookies folder using a Group Policy" page of the Petri IT Knowledgebase website.
- 2). Click the Start menu, and select "All Programs." Click "Accessories," then "Notepad."
- 3). Right-click on the white area within Notepad, and select "Paste" to flow in the copied text.
- 4). Click the "File" tab, and select "Save."
- 5). Browse to navigate to the following folder: "C:\Windows\Inf." This is your destination folder to save the Notepad file.
- 6). Type a file name with the extension .adm. For example, "redirectfav.adm." Click "Save."
- 7). Click the Start menu, and select "Control Panel." Click "Administrative Tools," then "Group Policy Management."
- 8). Double-click to expand the "User Configuration" object folder in the left pane root menu.
- 9). Right-click "Administrative Templates." Select "Add/Remove templates."

Browse to navigate to the "C:\Windows\Inf" folder where you saved the .adm file. Single-click the file, and click "Open." - 11
Click to highlight the "Administrative Templates" object folder in the left pane. Click the "View" tab, and select "Filtering." - 12
Click to clear the check next to "Only show policies that can be fully managed." - 13
Navigate to the following object folder in the left pane root menu: "Windows Components" > "Internet Explorer." Right-click "Location of Internet Explorer Favorites" in the right pane, and select "Properties." - 14
Click "Enabled." Change the path to the favorites folder to "%HOMESHARE%\Favorites." - 15
Click "OK." Close Group Policy Management. Restart your computer.
