DIY Kitchen Storage

3
    • 1). Clean out the kitchen. Use garbage bags to throw away old or unusable kitchen tools. Toss old magazines or mail that may be cluttering countertops. Go through pantry food. Place unwanted food that is still fresh, into boxes. Give the unwanted food to a local food bank.

    • 2). Move the bookcase into the kitchen. Use the top shelves to store cook books. Place wicker baskets on the other shelves. Store items that are not used daily such as cloth napkins, tablecloths and seasonal kitchen tools in small wicker baskets. Use large wicker baskets to store root vegetables on the bottom shelf of the bookcase.

    • 3). Hang a bulletin board in the kitchen. Pick a spot where it can be seen easily by every family member. Use this to hang a calendar and important phone messages. Show each member of the family how to use the board to leave messages and how to write down important scheduling information.

    • 4). Gather up loose cooking tools such as whisks, baster and brushes. Place the tools into a decorative vase on the counter to save room in your kitchen drawers. Store daily silverware in mugs that have sentimental value. This makes the tools and silverware more accessible when cooking and eating.

    • 5). Place items that are not often used out of the way. Move appliances that you do not regularly use from countertops and into lower cabinets or store them in the cellar, if you have one.
