Troubleshooting Thetford Aqua Magic 3
- 1). Check that the flush lever returns all the way to its original position on the left side of your Thetford Aqua Magic 3 toilet after flushing. If water keeps running into the bowl, foreign material may prevent the waste valve from closing all the way, or it may clog the blade seal at the bottom of the bowl. Disinfect the bowl and clean the waste valve with a scrub brush and toilet cleaner. Have an RV specialist replace the water valve if cleaning does not cure the problem.
- 2). Tighten both the upper and lower connections from the water tank to the Aqua Magic with a pair of goose-neck adjustable pliers if water leaks on the floor from the back of the toilet. If that does not stop the leak, disconnect and clean all mating surfaces and threads with household detergent. Rinse with clean water. Smear a dab of plumber's sealing compound on all coupling threads before reassembly.
- 3). Hold the flush lever fully open for two or three seconds during flushing to improve the flushing action of a Thetford Aqua Magic 3 RV toilet. Unlike domestic toilets, RV water pressure alone will not hold the valve open. If the problem persists, disconnect the water supply line with the goose-neck pliers and check the flow rate.
- 4). Hold a 5-gallon bucket under the open supply line and let the water drain into the bucket for one minute. Monitor the amount of water in the bucket by transferring the contents to another container using a quart jug. The flow rate should be at least 10 quarts (liters) per minute for adequate flushing. If there is less than 10 quarts in the bucket, there may be a blockage in the supply tank or connecting pipe.
