Homemade Decorative Boxes
- 1). Download and print out a template for a gift box. There are a number of different styles and shapes of templates located under Resources. Choose one that you like the most, or print out several to make a matching set.
- 2). Glue a piece of card stock to the back of a piece of wrapping paper. This gives the decorative wrapping paper a sturdy backing for the box.
- 3). Cut out the template and trace it onto the card stock. If your box has a lid template, repeat with that piece as well.
- 4). Cut out the box and assemble it according to the directions on the template. To aid with folding, you can score the box at its creases by pressing a blade lightly against the cardboard on the fold lines. Repeat with the box lid, if you have one.
- 5). Stamp the exterior of the box if you would like to add more decoration. You can also tear off slivers of construction paper or crumple them and glue them to the top or sides of the box to give it texture and dimension. If you would prefer to leave the box sleek and minimalist, skip this step.
- 6). Tie ribbon around the top and sides of the box to give it a completed, wrapped look.
