How to Find Big Bass
- 1). Understand the science of bass fishing. All bass prefer a habitat with cover, structure and shade. The biggest bass are often in the areas containing all three considerations. Big bass often congregate in thick groups of submerged trees, or in weedy patches under docks.
- 2). Consider the time of the year and the phase of the moon when seeking big bass. Big bass are often most active after they have finished spawning, usually in the late spring or early summer. Some fishermen follow the theory that big bass are most active when the moon is full.
- 3). Approach potential big bass habitat slowly. Make as little noise as possible. Big bass are most susceptible to baits dragged along the water during daylight hours, particularly in shallow areas. Look for drop-offs and points in lakes and ponds; these are attractive to bass.
