How to Find Divorce Records for Michigan
- 1). Visit the official State of Michigan website. Click on the "Birth, Death, Marriage and Divorce Records" link on the left sidebar. Select the "Eligibility Requirements" link at the bottom of the page and review which form of the record -- a long-form certified copy, for instance -- you need. Note that only former husbands and wives are eligible to obtain copies of a long-form certified divorce record.
Click on the "Order a Record Online" or "Order a Record by Mail" link. - 2). Revisit the "Birth, Death, Marriage and Divorce Records" page. Click on the "Order a Record Online" or "Order a Record by Mail" link -- depending on your preference. Be prepared to submit copies of as many as three current forms of identification in conjunction with your order. See eligibility requirements to note exactly how many you will need.
- 3). Submit your order along with processing fees -- beginning at $8.50 per copy -- to the Michigan Department of Community Health. Contact the MDCH with additional eligibility questions or processing concerns at 517-335-8666 or 517-373-3740.
