How to Steam a Precooked Lobster
- 1). Place a rack in the bottom of the pot that will sit slightly above the surface of the water. You can also use a steaming basket.
- 2). Pour approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inches of water into the pot and bring it to the boiling point.
- 3). Add salt to quicken the boiling process. The general rule is 2 tbsp. of salt for every quart of water in the pot.
- 4). Cover the pot and wait for the water to begin boiling.
- 5). Place each lobster onto the rack or in the steaming basket. As the lobster is precooked, it shouldn't take more than approximately five minutes.
- 6). Remove the lobster from the boiling water once it has attained a bright red color and its antennae are easily removable.
