    Trick-or-Treat Party

    • Set up booths in your school's gymnasium or parking lot for children to trick-or-treat. Some booths can hand out candy while others have games such as bobbing for apples and pumpkin painting. Decorate with hay, spiderwebs and pumpkins.

    Candy Apples

    • Candy apples are easy to make and kids love them. Combine 3 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup and 1 cup of water in a saucepan and stir. Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves. Continue to stir until mixture comes to a boil. Use a candy thermometer to measure the temperature of the sauce, and remove it from heat once it reaches 300 degrees. Stir in 1/4 tsp. cinnamon and red food coloring. This sauce will coat up to eight apples. Insert sticks into the bottom of the apples and dip them into the sauce, making sure the apples are completely coated.

    Halloween Carnival

    • If you have the space and budget, a carnival is a great way to celebrate Halloween with your students and their parents. A school carnival can be an alternative to trick-or-treating for your students while raising money for your school. Money from ticket sales can benefit the Parent Teacher Association or go toward supplies for your school. Volunteers can be in charge of running a scary bounce house, pin the nose on the scarecrow or pumpkin bowling. A dunking booth and bobbing for apples are also fun games to consider. Set up booths to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

    Ghostsicle

    • Bring this scary and yummy treat to your kid's class' Halloween party. Cut ripe bananas in half. Remove the skin from the bananas and insert craft sticks into the cut ends. Wrap the bananas in plastic wrap, place them on a cookie sheet and freeze them for at least three hours. Place white chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl. You will want at least 1 1/2 ounces for every banana you use. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave for one minute and then stir. Place back into the microwave and continue to melt the chocolate in one minute intervals until all of it is melted. Remove the bananas from the freezer. Use a knife to cover the bananas with the chocolate. Place the covered bananas on wax paper. Use chocolate sprinkles or other small candy to make the ghost's eyes and mouth.
