• The Scion xA made its debut as one of two models available under Toyota's brand of compact cars targeted at younger buyers. It was first available to United States buyers in 2003, but only in California, before it had its nationwide introduction in 2004. The 2005 model year did not bring many changes to the car, but a limited edition "Release Series 1.0" xA model was introduced, of which 1,550 were produced.
  
  

Engine and Drivetrain Specs

• The compact, front-wheel-drive Scion xA offers two transmission options and one engine for its 2005 model year. Either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic could be mated to the car's 1.5-liter, inline four-cylinder engine. The engine itself generates 108 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 105 foot-pounds of torque at 4,200 rpm. It has a 2.95-inch bore and a 3.3-inch stroke. It is naturally aspirated and uses a dual overhead cam operation and features a total of 16 valves. • The Scion xA is a four-door hatchback car with a curb weight of 2,380 pounds. It has an overall length that measures 154.1 inches and a wheelbase that measures 93.3 inches. It has a width measuring 66.7 inches and a height of 60.2 inches. The car provides a total ground clearance of 5.7 inches, making it more ideal for use in urban environments. The Scion brand is known for the wide array of exterior accessories available. Many exterior options are available from the factory for the xA including fog lights, a rear spoiler, mud flaps, alloy wheels and an upgraded front air dam.

• Interior features such as air conditioning, power windows, automatically dimming side mirrors, power adjustable mirrors and CD stereo are standard equipment. Optional accessories include a subwoofer, CD changer, leather steering wheel and a power sunroof. With a total seating for five people, the xA's rear seat can fold down to increase its cargo capacity. It offers 39.6 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom to front passengers. Rear passengers receive 38.8 inches of headroom and 37.6 inches of legroom.
