How To Turn On a Circuit Breaker

1
    • 1). Find the circuit box in your home. It may be in your garage or basement. Typically it is found near the electrical meter outside your home, so if you can't find it, locate the electrical meter, and check inside the room's nearby. The circuit box will be a metal box connected to the wall of your home.

    • 2). Open the circuit box.

    • 3). Look for any switches that are flipped in the middle or to the off position. Use a map of your circuit breakers to help you determine which breaker operates each room in your home. This map is unique for every household. It may be printed on the door of your circuit box. There is also a main circuit breaker (usually near the top or bottom of the other breakers) that operates your entire home.

    • 4). Switch the breaker from the middle position completely to the off position if it isn't already in the off position.

    • 5). Switch it back to the on position. The power will return to the corresponding room. If the power does not return, you need to contract your electric company or need to contact an electrician to service your home.
