The Subaru STI is also known as the Subaru Impreza. The Impreza comes in a few different models and the STI is the top-of-the-line for performance. In 2007, Subaru made a base-model Impreza, the WRX ,and later the Impreza WRX STI. Both have a turbocharged engine. - The STI had had modified version of the 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine that was in the WRX. The output was 293 horsepower, with 290 foot-pounds of torque. The only transmission offered in this model was the six-speed manual. All Subarus come as all-wheel drive.
- The car's acceleration from zero to 60 comes in at just under five seconds. Its top speed is of 155 mph. On the highway, the Impreza STI touts 25 mpg, in the city 19 mpg.
- The brakes on all four wheels were vented disc brakes. This added to performance since on many other similar cars, the back brakes are not vented, but rather solid disc. It has an anti-lock braking system and traction control. The STI offered an extra traction-control option controlled by the driver.
- 2007 was the first year Subaru offered hugging. heated bucket seats. It was also the first year the vehicle came with a power glass moon roof and improved sound insulation. The rear-view mirror and compass came with an auto-dimming feature for its built-in light sensor.
- The car has a dual-plane rear spoiler as well as a roof spoiler. It has a lower profile for improved wind resistance. It is 175.8 inches in length, 68.5 inches wide and 56.3 inches tall. The total curb weight is 3,351 pounds.
