Make Your Own 3-D Cards In Minutes!
Do you hate shopping to find just the right greeting card? And then you find it and you can't stand paying tons of money for a piece of paper that will likely get thrown away anyway? Well here are a few tips for creating a simple 3-D card that anyone can make! All you need is a piece of cardstock, a graphic with one or more cuttable elements, 3-D adhesive (such as Zots, Pop Dots or Foam Dots), paper glue, optional corner punch, and a few pieces of medium weight paper to print an image on.
Fold your cardstock in half to make your card base.
A commonly used card size is A4 (cut your cardstock to 8.
5" x 5.
5" and fold it in half).
Now what you need is a graphic.
For example, I used an Easter graphic of a cross a rose on it.
Now trim around the graphic, making a rectangle shape slightly smaller than the front of your card.
For an extra touch, use a decorative corner punch on each corner.
Then simply glue it to the front of your card.
Next, cut several elements from the second copy of your graphic.
If you have the Easter graphic, a great choice is to cut out the flower head of the rose and two of the leaves.
Hint: You will get a cleaner edge on delicate graphics if you use scissors with a small tip and move the paper around the scissors as you cut, not the scissors around the paper.
Last comes the fun part that makes your card come alive! Use Zots or any type of 3-D adhesive and place each part of the graphic directly on top of the one already on your card front.
You're all done! It's so simple and so beautiful, and costs just a few pennies.
To make your images stand up even more, simply add more layers! If you're having trouble visualizing all the steps for this card, check out the step-by-step video tutorial: Easter Joy Handmade Card.
