Cures for Under-Eye Circles
- Under-eye circles are caused by leaky capillaries, and leave your face looking bruised and black and blue. Though there may be many causes for under-eye circles, there are also some cures or remedies for getting rid of under-eye circles. Some are temporary and some are more permanent, but they all work to treat this annoying issue.
- Specially formulated eye serums work to get rid of under-eye circles, and stop them from forming again in the future. Eye serums rush the enzymatic reactions that are partly to blame for circles, and the ingredients within the serum strengthen the capillary walls surrounding the eyes. All of these things work together to fade the circles away and keep them away in the future. Eye serums can run pricey though, so sometimes this is not the best option unless you are dealing with a serious case of chronic, dark, under-eye circles.
- A common remedy for under-eye circles is the use of cucumber slices. Applying thin cucumber slices to your eyes soothes the eyes, which reduces the under-eye circles. When applying cucumber slices to your eyes, it is best to do so lying down, to better balance the slices. Put the cucumber slices in direct contact with your skin, right under your eyes, where the circles are. Leave them on for about five to 10 minutes.
- Another cure that some use for under eye circles is tea bags. Tea bags containing caffeine are best, since the caffeine acts as a remedy for the circles by helping to reduce and eliminate puffiness. The caffeine removes water in the tissues around the eyes. Not only is this a way to get rid of under-eye circles, but tea contains certain antioxidants that are healthy and beneficial to your skin.
- Though drastic, cosmetic surgery is another cure for under-eye circles. Laser surgery can be done to stimulate the collagen layers in the skin around the eye. This helps to rejuvenate the skin's surface and thus removes the circles.
Another surgical procedure, called blepheroplasty, removes some under-eye skin and draws the remaining skin tight to help get rid of the circles.
These are expensive options, and recovery time is to be expected. As with any surgical procedure, there are some dangers involved.
