And They're Off

It's the end of September and fall craft and art shows are beginning. They may start out slow with one here and there but by mid November there are several in every county. They are amazing places to find unique holiday gifts and, yes, even something for yourself.

Even if you aren't vending at a show they are great places to get inspiration for booth and display designs.

Tips for Enjoying Jewelry Events

Show Your Best Side

From how you deal with the show promoters to how you act in your booth Craft Show Etiquette is super important.

Things like being sure your booth space is open for business until the very end of the show are things you may not have thought of but are important for your business and the business of the other vendors around you. Not to mention the fact that if you cut out early you may not be asked or allowed back at the show.

Be sure to read all information regarding the show prior to arrival so that you know when set up and strike take place. Don't be THAT vendor.

Be mindful of your attitude and the energy your booth space conveys. No one wants to hang out with a negative Nelly and they may not want to buy from one either. Be sure to make customers feel appreciated and welcome.

But What Do I SAY?

It seems that many creative people who work from home, alone, like it that way just fine. But being an introvert may make attending shows a bit of a struggle.
Art Show Conversation Starters? shares how you can easily break the ice and not seem like a pushy sales person by helping you connect, in a real way, to passing shoppers and those in your booth.

Make sure to mention something you like such as their jewelry or handbag.

They will appreciate the compliment and may step into the booth to talk with you more or just to browse because you seem friendly.

Ask questions. Ask folks about their day, the weather and even about what they have seen at the show or their favorite thing they ate at the show.

Reaching out to people in a real way is satisfying to both of you.

 Accessories as Art

This kind of goes with  Craft Show Etiquette but not really.

Good Manners in Your Handmade Jewelry Business relates to whether you are at a show or not. You want to put your best foot forward when dealing with customers no matter where you are.

You never know if the shopper on the other end of the wi-fi connection found you at a show last year and is hoping to buy more from you. Or they shared your information with a friend.

Be sure to treat everyone the way you would want to be treated.

Be thankful even when people seem like they are trying to get under your skin. Again, you never know who they are talking to or when they may return for more of your fabulous jewelry.
